This is a young man named Chris from Archer City, Texas who just had a fight with his longtime girlfriend and was “workin’ some things out”. A group of us had gone to the local arena to let the kids get in some barrel practice and he tagged along but stayed to himself. Again, it was late in the day and the sun was doing its late day magic. The title of this work came as I watched Chris sitting on this chute gate and I thought about tough times in my own life and how my mind had wandered into the future. The name fits very well.
