This was one of my experimental paintings that I really enjoyed doing and learned a lot on. I had seen some paintings from some artist that were colored squares that I decided to try my hand at but made it a type of ‘fool the eye’ painting. I painted different color squares, but made them look like they were being poured onto the canvas. After I had done it, I decided I had gone about as far as I cared to go with the subject matter and wasn’t thrilled with it. So I decided to reuse the canvas and at a demo at DaVinci’s Gallery one evening, I placed these two older people on the canvas and instead of painting over the entire canvas I painted it in red. I really liked the effect so I’ve implemented it on several more of my paintings. This couple was originally from Russia and now lived in the Florida Keys.
